When I wanted to build a custom knowledge bot for WakeCap, I started out with Dante. It was the fastest option to get started. It had an easy to use UX to create knowledge bases, and had an out of the box integration with Slack.

This worked well for the V1 of WakeCap Support AI bot. But here are some limitations we found:

  1. Replies did not include diagrams or images that existed in the document
  2. The bot never shared any reference material. Ideally I wanted an answer, but then also the link to the larger document or even better the relevant part of the document.
  3. It could not distinguish conflicting answers for the same thing. Which our thinking was to separate the knowledge bases based on profile. As the same aspect may be defined and viewed differently based on the role of the person.

Dante AI does not allow us to do this. So it makes sense to explore other options. Currently the only option on the table is to try to build our own version of Dante AI. But this feels very scary.
